Royal Purple

This piece was made for a figure drawing course I took, and the purpose of the assignment was to pick a color and illustrate what that color means to you. In this case, I chose purple because it's such a unique and rare color (often only worn by royals because of its rarity and how expensive it was) I had no specific time period in mind in regards to the 'luxuriousness' of the subject, however, the hairstyle is a bit Gibson Girl-esque (a late 19th and early 20th centuries personification of the feminine ideal of physical attractiveness as portrayed by illustrator Charles Dana Gibson) and the dress is a bit Christian Dior-esque in its silhouette.
